Pamela Askew is a dedicated educator, retired principal, and advocate for student success with over 35 years of experience shaping the educational landscape in Detroit and Eastpointe. Throughout her career, she has inspired both students and teachers, teaching English, Social Studies, and Ballet before transitioning into leadership roles. Rising quickly through the ranks, Pamela led the English, Social Studies, and Special Education departments before becoming a principal in 2006. She played a pivotal role in turning around four schools for Detroit Public Schools and served as principal for a middle school, elementary school, and Michigan’s only tuition-free PK-12th grade all-girls public school international academy.
A graduate of Marygrove College, Pamela holds a master’s degree in education and has earned multiple national certifications, including Principal’s Coach and Mentor (2014) and Trainer with the Center for Teacher Effectiveness (2020). She has also studied leadership practices of Fortune 500 executives at the National Principal’s Leadership Institute in New York.
Beyond education, Pamela is an accomplished author of 12 books, specializing in both fiction and non-fiction. Her latest work highlights childhood trauma and its impact on learning. She has also conducted webinars on school transformation and is committed to improving struggling schools. As the CEO and Founder of Education Impact Services LLC, she continues to empower educators and leaders through consulting, training, and professional development.
